In a few days I'll know if this works or not. If you own a domain name and pay for server hosting for a website you can probably create custom filters in your hosting control panel that will filter domain names. If I do sign up at a website that uses what I consider a junk domain I can either decide they aren't someone I want to trust, or I can add them to an exception list. I simply want a plugin that will allow me to input the domain and block it. I want to be able to set these junk domains which I have never gotten anything useful from as people I don't know who come to the front door and get ignored. If they come to the back door, I'll look out the window to see who it is. Anyone that comes to my front door doesn't know me and I will not answer.
If I want to lock the doors and not answer when someone knocks, that's my right. I should be able to block anything in anyway I choose from it. Whatever the case, it's my email address. Possibly my main email becomes more targeted due to the fact it's attached to a domain name and website I own. Some to help protect my main email address. I use different addresses for various things. I have multiple email address, one of which was created in 1999. So I just don't give them a valid email address ever. My biggest issues are actually with political parties, charities and churches. The sale of the "competition" entries is usually in the entry terms. There sole purpose is to get sales leads. But I do not provide my email address to "coupons" sites, Competitions, especially the ones in malls and shopping centers. But I have never closed or abandoned an email address because I spam. Since they have no profiles and no groups worth talking about spam over the few years appears to be much less there than I used to be. I think it was yahoo profiles and yahoo groups that opened the floodgates. However I have had a very different experience with Yahoo. All these new domain names that have been hijacked by scammers is the worst idea ICANN has ever had. Any legitimate user who sets up an account using the junk domains deserves to be blocked. However, it would be far simpler to be able to block a domain names. If you aren't willing to create a new email address and take the time to transfer your wanted contacts you'll have to live with Junk until someone makes a plugin to block domain names. I've done this twice and am preparing to do so again since Thunderbird is not willing to block domains. I understand it's a hassled to change email address. To have a relatively secure email you can't use your name in the email address. An email address typically lasts about 2 years before they manage to get my email into the main "junk" pipeline. Once I start tagging 10 messages a day as junk I create a new email address and close the old one.
